Why Glassware Matters: Crystal vs Standard Glass at Your Event

Guests judge a drink with their eyes and their hands before they taste it. The glass is a large part of that first impression, which is why we bring both crystal and standard glassware to every event.

What glassware changes

A thin rim feels lighter against the lips, a good weight feels reassuring in the hand and clear glass shows off colour, ice and garnish. A tall glass keeps a long drink cold, and a wide one lets a cocktail breathe.

The same drink poured into a plastic cup and a polished glass tastes different to most people, simply because the experience around it is different.

What crystal offers

Crystal is clearer and often more brilliant than ordinary glass. It can be cut thinner, which gives a finer rim, and it catches event lighting beautifully. It is the natural choice when photographs matter, such as a wedding reception, a gala or a milestone anniversary.

Our Elite package includes crystal glassware, and crystal can be requested for other events.

What standard glass offers

Standard glassware is sturdy, practical and easy to replace. It suits large outdoor events, busy queues and gatherings with children, where durability matters more than sparkle. A good standard glass, clean and chilled, still shows a drink well.

We bring both, so you can mix them: crystal for the signature cocktails and standard glass for the high-volume mocktails.

How to choose

  • Formal evening, many photographs, adult guests: crystal.
  • Large crowd, outdoor lawn, children around: standard glass.
  • Mixed audience: crystal for the cocktail list, standard for the rest.
  • Windy or wet venues: standard glass, with crystal kept for covered areas.

Matching glass to drink

As a general guide, tall straight glasses suit long drinks such as the mojito and Tom Collins, short wide glasses suit the whiskey sour, and stemmed glasses suit the daiquiri and margarita. Mocktails, which are usually long and fruity, work best in tall glasses with plenty of ice.

We match glass to drink wherever the venue and the guest count allow.

Looking after glass at an event

We carry glassware in protective crates, polish it before service and keep a dedicated area for used glasses so they never reach the counter again. Chipped or cracked glass is removed straight away, and we sweep carefully if anything breaks.

Chilled glasses also make a difference. A cold glass keeps a drink cold for longer, which matters in Kerala's warm weather.

Washing and polishing

Clean glassware should be washed in warm water, rinsed thoroughly and dried with a lint-free cloth so no spots remain. Polishing before service removes fingerprints and gives crystal its sparkle. We handle glasses by the stem or base, so the bowl stays clear.
